About this contest
"Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics" calls for proposals for new services and applications that use digital technology by making available the data from actual logistics systems.
The logistics industry is facing challenges such as labor shortages and long working hours. "SSCV®-Safety" developed by LOGISTEED, Ltd. (formerly Hitachi Transport System, Ltd.) is a solution to realize smart and safe logistics for "zero accident." In this challenge, location information of actual trucks, vital data of truck drivers, and near-miss accident/incident information obtained from "SSCV-Safety," as well as videos of the near-miss accidents/incidents, will be made available to contestants.
Proposals from developers, researchers, students, and others around the world are called for to realize "smart and safe logistics" that Daiwa House Industry and LOGISTEED are aiming for.

The following data will be made available to registrants.
- Information obtained from LOGISTEED's safety operation management solution, "SSCV-Safety"
- Truck location information
- Truck location information measured periodically.
- Date, time, speed, and mileage are included.
- Truck acceleration
- Truck acceleration measured periodically.
- Date, time, and acceleration are included.
- Truck drivers' vital data: the following two types
- Vital data measured at departure and return
- It includes the date and time of measurement, body temperature, blood oxygen concentration, blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), autonomic nerve function values, and the level of fatigue and alertness analyzed from these values.
- Vital data measured during driving
- It includes the date and time of measurement and the level of fatigue and alert level from the acquired vital data.
- Near-miss accident/incident occurrence event data
- Data obtained at the time the near-miss accident/incident occurred.
- It includes the date, time, gyro acceleration and location of the near-miss accident/incident.
- Videos at the time the near-miss accidents/incidents occurred.
- Dashboard camera images at the time the near-miss accident/incident occurred.
- Information provided by National Police Agency
- Traffic accident statistics (2019-2021)
The data will be added periodically during the contest period.
How to use the data will be published in the "Developers Site of the Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics" once the application period begins.
Eligibility
- Those who agree to the terms of contest.
- Individuals, groups and corporations can apply.
- There are no restrictions on nationality or place of residence.
- There is no age limit, but a minor applicants shall obtain the permission of the guardian.
- One applicant, including groups and corporations can submit multiple works. Also, applicants can belong to multiple groups.
Application Rules
- Developers must use the open data provided on the developer site.
- Entries such as applications, web services, and research reports developed by using the data made available in this challenge must remain published free of charge during the contest period.
- Developers may not use these Data for any purpose other than contest entry.
- Applicants must agree to the Application Rules for the application.
Application procedures
All applicants must agree to the Application Rules and API License Agreement of "Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics" described at the end of this page before clicking the "Registration" button.

Step1. Register an application
When you agree to the Application Rues at the contest site, you will be transferred to the "Developers Site of the Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics."
Step2. User Registration
Contest entry shall be performed as follows.
- The applicant must fill in the form at the "Developers Site of the Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics" to register as a contestant.
- An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address for confirmation. Accessing the URL in the sent e-mail completes the e-mail address confirmation.
- The contest secretariat checks the content of the filled form and will send a confirmation of the completion of the registration. Registration may take up to TWO (2) business days.
- Once your registration is complete, you can log in to the developer website, using your e-mail address and password.
- Once you log in, you can access the document that describes the usage of the API, and obtain the access token for using API, and thus can start to use the API.
Step 3. Submission
Fill in the application form at the Developers Site of the Daiwa House Industry Open Data Challenge for Smart Logistics, and submit the work by the deadline for work submission.
Application Rules / API License Agreement

Application Rules
- Entries must be created originally and/or developed by the developer and the developer must hold the copyright.
- If entries for which the copyright is held by a third party (e.g. images, videos, icons, logos, other open data used in a mash-up with the entry or open source library used in the development of the entry) is used, the applicant must guarantee to the organizer and co-sponsor of this contest that the right to use the applicable work has been obtained in advance so that there will be no interference with the entry into this contest.
- The data prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest must be used in entries.
- It is permitted to combine with other data that does not cause copyright problems.
- Any number of entries can be applied by any party (individuals, groups and corporations). There is no restriction on nationality, age, resident area, etc. Minor applicants shall obtain the permission of guardian or supervisor. If you are a minor who will enter as part of your school club activities, please obtain permission from your club advisor in addition to the permission of your guardian.
- It is possible for one applicant (including groups and corporations) to make multiple entries. Furthermore, applicants may belong to multiple groups.
- Applicants must pay the various expenses concerning entry into this contest. This includes the construction of the entry development/implementation environment and Internet communication/connection fees.
- In principle, the winners will attend the awards ceremony and give a presentation on their entries.
- The cash prize will be paid to the prize winner’s designated account if the winner is an individual, to the contact person’s designated account if the winner is a group, and to the corporation’s designated account if the winner is a corporation.
- Entry will be completed when applicants register their information on the special contest website and publish their entry on Google Play, App Store, Windows Store or any other website set up by the applicants.
- After registering at the special contest website, applicants shall agree that failure to adhere to the deadline to publish their entries will result in disqualification.
- If the entries are iOS applications, the date the applications are registered to App Store for judging shall be the date entries are submitted to the contest. The applicants shall adhere to the Rules.
- Applicants are prohibited from submitting entries developed for this contest in other contests.
- Apps, as part of the submission in this contest, shall not be recognized, released or distributed as official apps or official services of the organizer, co-sponsor or supporters.
- Organized crime groups as defined in Article 2 (2) of the Act on Prevention of Unjust Acts by Organized Crime Group Members (Act No. 77 (1991), organized crime group members as defined in Article 2 (6) of the same act, associate members of organized crime groups, companies related to organized crime groups, stock holder meeting extortionists, political racketeers, organized special intellectual crime groups, or other groups or individuals who pursue economic interests by making use of violence, intimidation and fraudulent methods, or those equivalent to these (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Anti-social Forces"), or those deemed by the organizer to have some kind of interaction or involvement with Anti-social Forces such as by cooperating or being involved in the maintenance, operation or management of Anti-social Forces through fund provision or otherwise are not allowed to enter this contest.
- In the event a problem arises concerning copyright, moral rights of authors, neighboring rights, design rights, trademark rights, utility model rights, patent rights or other rights (hereinafter "Intellectual Property Rights"), the applicant will solve this at his/her/its own responsibility and cost. If the organizer and co-sponsor or a third party suffers damage for which an applicant bears the blame, the applicant shall be responsible for the damage.
- The organizer and co-sponsor of this contest will provide absolutely no guarantees about the accuracy, comprehensiveness or compatibility with specific purposes of the data prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest. Additionally, the organizer and co-sponsor shall accept absolutely no responsibility in regard to the content of the data prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor even if damages arise as a result of the applicant using the applicable information.
- The provision of the data prepared on the special website for this contest may be canceled and the content of the data may be changed according to the circumstances of the organizer and co-sponsor of this contest.
- Data prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest is scheduled to be provided until the end of the contest.
- Entries that are, or may be, contrary to public order/morals and entries judged by the organizer not to suit the intent of this contest will not be judged.
- The Intellectual Property Rights of entries (copyrights of the software and documents, patents filed, patents granted, etc.) will belong to the applicants, except for the parts to which a third party holds the copyright. However, applicants shall provide the right for the organizer and co-sponsor to use the presented material by the applicant (submitted entries, names and names of applicants) inside and outside of Japan in the future.
- The applicants shall provide the right for the organizer and co-sponsor to use the presented material by the applicant in paper and electronic media for publicity, advertising and announcements.
- Applicants may publicize their application to the contest on their own website, social media, etc. However, applicants must not make false claims as though the applicable entry was developed by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest in that case.
- Applicants must not use the data and similar prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest for any purpose other than the development of their entries for this contest and to enter this contest, and applicants must not use them after the contest is finished.
- If an entry disadvantages or impairs the reputation of the organizer and co-sponsor of this contest, the organizer and co-sponsor will immediately stop providing information to the applicant of the submitted entry.
- Applicants cannot use the data prepared on the special website by the organizer and co-sponsor for this contest, or the entry to this contest for commercial purposes regardless of whether for profit or not.
- If falsehoods are contained in an entry registration, the applicable entry will not be eligible for any award.
- If the secretariat cannot contact a prize winner and cannot inform the awarding of the prize, the prize winning may be cancelled.
- The information stated at the time of entry such as the name and contact information will be used exclusively for notification of prize-winning and contact in relation to the entries, and at the time of announcing the prize-winning entries; However, this restriction may not apply when using the entries, names and names of applicants in paper and electronic media for publicity, advertising and announcements inside and outside of Japan in the future.
- Inquiries on the judging process, etc. will not be accepted and answered.
- Those involved with the organizer and co-sponsor of this contest or those involved with the implementation of this contest cannot submit an entry.
- The contest may be subject to suspension or termination for certain reasons without prior notice. If the contest is suspended or terminated, the organizer and co-sponsor of the contest shall not be responsible for the expenses paid by applicants for the application of the contest before they learn the suspension or termination of the contest.
- The organizer and co-sponsor reserve the right to make changes to the Rules. If the Rules are changed and a user uses the Developer Site or the Daiwa House Industry Logistics Open Data Challenge API after the organizer or co-sponsor issues a notice of such change to the user, such user will be deemed to have agreed to the Rules after the change.
- Applicants will develop entries upon agreeing to this Application Rules and the Daiwa House Industry Logistics Open Data Challenge API License Agreement.
API License Agreement
Preamble: The Daiwa House Industry Logistics Open Data Challenge API License Agreement (hereinafter "this Agreement") has been established in regard to the use of the Logistics Open Data Challenge API (hereinafter "Open Data Challenge API"), Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data defined in Article 1 that shall be released by the organizer and co-sponsor with the objective of soliciting "smart and safe logistics" proposals in applications, web services and other similar usages by general developers, researchers, students and others inside and outside of Japan through releasing open data relating to the truck location information, truck driver vital data, and near-miss accident/incident information collected by "SSCV-Safety," the LOGISTEED's safety operation driving management solution.
Article 1 Definitions
- "Developer" shall refer to the entity (including individuals and corporations) that will use Open Data Challenge API.
- "Logistics Open Data" shall refer to the data related to the truck location information, truck driver vital data, and near-miss accident/incident information managed by the organizer and co-sponsor.
- "Open Data Challenge API" shall refer to the API to provide the Logistics Open Data by the organizer and co-sponsor with regard to the web system and application developed by the Developer.
- "This Logistics Open Data" shall refer to the Logistics Open Data used in the Open Data Challenge API that is provided to the Developer by the organizer and co-sponsor.
- "This Work" shall refer to the web system and/or application developed with the Open Data Challenge API by the Developer.
- "Access Tokens" shall refer to a character string to use the Open Data Challenge API provided to the Developer by the organizer and co-sponsor.
Article 2 Use of the Open Data Challenge API, Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data
- The Developer shall be able to use the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data according to the provisions set forth in this Agreement in a non-assignable and non-exclusive manner by consenting to this Agreement upon registering his/her/its information according to the registration form without falsehood.
- If the Developer publishes This Work on Google Play, App Store, Windows Store, a webpage or similar, he/she/it shall fill in the necessary fields on the contact form on the prescribed webpage designated by the organizer and co-sponsor and submit it.
- The Developer shall comply with the following items when using the Open Data Challenge API, Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data
- The Developer shall access the Open Data Challenge API according to this Agreement each time he/she/it accesses it.
- The Developer shall use the Open Data Challenge API, Access Token and This Logistics Open Data according to this Agreement.
- If part or all of This Logistics Open Data is updated, the Developer shall immediately update the corresponding part or all of This Logistics Open Data in This Work.
- The Developer shall guarantee that the content of This Logistics Open Data displayed in This Work shall accurately reflect the content of This Logistics Open Data provided by the organizer and co-sponsor.
- The Developer may combine This Logistics Open Data with data from other systems under the condition that this combination does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights and other rights of any third parties.
- The organizer and co-sponsor shall be able to change the format of the Open Data Challenge API, Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data at any time. However, if these formats are changed, the organizer and co-sponsor shall strive to provide advance notification to the e-mail address reported at the time the Developer registered the entry.
- The Developer shall not be given the Open Data Challenge API, This Logistics Open Data or any rights pertaining to these (including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights) by the organizer and co-sponsor except for the rights explicitly granted in this Agreement.
Article 3 Copyright
- The copyright of This Work shall belong to the Developer of This Work.
- The Developer of This Work shall grant the perpetual right to use This Work to the organizer, co-sponsor and those designated by the organizer and co-sponsor for the purpose of announcing, promoting, recording, publicizing and similar activities of the organizer and co-sponsor through release, reproduction, distribution, public transmission, publication (including publication by an electronic method) or other methods for free.
Article 4 Intellectual Property Rights, etc.
- The right to receive industrial property rights (e.g. patents, utility models and designs) and intellectual property rights obtained based on these rights (hereinafter "Intellectual Property Rights") shall belong to those specified in the following items in regard to all new technical results such as inventions, plans, designs and know-how (hereinafter "Inventions") obtained from developing This Work.
- The Intellectual Property Rights for Inventions independently developed by the organizer and co-sponsor, or Developer shall belong solely to the party that made the Inventions.
- The Intellectual Property Rights for Inventions developed jointly by the organizer, co-sponsor and Developer shall be shared by the organizer, co-sponsor and said Developer.
- The details concerning the Intellectual Property Rights to be shared by the organizer, co-sponsor and Developer based on the preceding paragraph shall be established through separate discussions.
Article 5 Period and Termination
- This Agreement shall apply from the time when the organizer and co-sponsor send the Developer a notification of acceptance in response to the notification of consent to this Agreement by the Developer.
- The use of the Open Data Challenge API and Logistics Open Data by the Developer based on this Agreement shall be terminated when the organizer and co-sponsor send the Developer a usage termination notification.
- The organizer and co-sponsor shall reserve the right to immediately terminate the use of the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data by the Developer based on this Agreement through sending the Developer a usage termination notification in the following cases:
- When the Developer has violated this Agreement,
- When the information in This Logistics Open Data registered on This Work by the Developer is inaccurate,
- When This Work is not in compliance with the intent of the purpose of providing the Open Data Challenge API, Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data described in the preamble of this Agreement,
- When it has been determined that This Work will cause damage or impair the reputation of the organizer and co-sponsor.
- The organizer and co-sponsor shall reserve the right to alter, suspend and stop providing the information in the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data to the Developer at any time through a notification to the said Developer for any reason. In addition, the organizer and co-sponsor shall reserve the right to immediately terminate the use of the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data by the Developer based on this Agreement through a usage termination notification to the said Developer.
- The Developer must immediately stop using the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data in This Work in the cases set forth in the preceding three paragraphs.
- When the organizer and co-sponsor have sent the usage termination notification to the Developer, the said Developer must delete all of This Logistics Open Data stored in the servers of the said Developer and must then not use This Logistics Open Data thereafter.
- The Developer shall understand that the organizer and co-sponsor shall accept absolutely no responsibility for any direct, incidental, consequential and indirect damages or any other damages (including, but not limited to, damages suffered by users using This Work) arising from the termination, alteration, suspension or stoppage of the use of the Open Data Challenge API, Access Tokens and This Logistics Open Data based on this article. The same shall also apply even if the organizer and co-sponsor have been informed about the possibility of such damages arising.
Article 6 Exemptions and Responsibilities
- The organizer and co-sponsor shall strive to maintain the accuracy of the information in the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data. However, the organizer and co-sponsor shall be exempt from responsibility as set forth in the following items because it may not always be possible to provide accurate information.
- The Developer shall understand that the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data shall be provided AS IS.
- The Developer shall understand that the organizer and co-sponsor shall accept absolutely no responsibility for direct, incidental, consequential and indirect damages or any other damages (including, but not limited to, damages suffered by users using This Work) arising from the use or inability to use the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data. The same shall also apply even if the organizer and co-sponsor have been informed about the possibility of such damages arising.
- The Developer shall understand that the organizer and co-sponsor shall provide absolutely no guarantee for the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data regardless of whether explicit or implicit, including implied guarantees with relation to marketability, compatibility with specific applications or non-infringement properties.
- The organizer and co-sponsor shall strive to ensure that This Logistics Open Data satisfies the following items.
- No content that slanders others, obscene content or other illegal content is contained in the data found in This Logistics Open Data.
- No computer viruses are contained in the data found in This Logistics Open Data.
- If the organizer and co-sponsor verify that an Access Token which is input when the Open Data Challenge API is accessed matches with that provided to the Developer, the organizer and co-sponsor shall deem that the said Developer in question has used it even if a third party made the said input.
- The Developer shall appropriately manage the Access Tokens provided to him/her/it from the organizer and co-sponsor at his/her/its own responsibility.
- Even if an Access Token is used by someone other than the Developer due to its theft, misuse or other circumstances, the Developer shall consent to the fact that the organizer and co-sponsor shall accept absolutely no responsibility for any damages that arise as a result of its use in cases for which the organizer and co-sponsor are not responsible.
Article 7 Prohibitions
- The Developer shall be prohibited from the following acts except when he/she/it has the prior written agreement of the organizer and co-sponsor. The organizer and co-sponsor shall reserve the right to alter, suspend or stop the provision of the information in the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data to a Developer and to immediately terminate its use of the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data based on this Agreement if the organizer and co-sponsor determines that the Developer has performed one of these prohibited acts.
- Using This Logistics Open Data obtained by using the Open Data Challenge API for purposes other than developing or creating This Work.
- Releasing, reproducing, redistributing or publicly transmitting This Logistics Open Data obtained by using the Open Data Challenge API in a state that enables reuse by a third party.
- Releasing, reproducing, redistributing or publicly transmitting the Open Data Challenge API and Access Tokens in a state that enables reuse by a third party.
- Releasing, reproducing, redistributing or publicly transmitting This Work for profit.
- Using This Logistics Open Data in a way that disadvantages or impairs the reputation of the organizer and the co-sponsor.
- Disassembling or modifying This Logistics Open Data in a form that impairs its original meaning.
- Posting advertising in This Logistics Open Data and This Work.
- Charging fees for using This Logistics Open Data and This Work.
- Displaying all of This Logistics Open Data on a system other than This Work.
- Using the intellectual property rights of the organizer and co-sponsor (including, but not limited to, all trademarks belonging to the organizer and co-sponsor) when using the Open Data Challenge API and This Logistics Open Data.
- Using any display that suggests the organizer and co-sponsor shall provide any kind of guarantee or take responsibility for This Work.
- Using This Logistics Open Data for commercial purposes whether for profit or not.
Article 8 Changes
- The organizer and co-sponsor reserve the right to make changes to this Agreement at any time without any prior notice.
- The Developer is deemed to have consented to the changed this Agreement when the Developer used either the Open Data Challenge API, This Logistics Open Data or both after this Agreement has been changed following a notification of this change to the Developer by the organizer and co-sponsor.
Article 9 Compensation
- The Developer shall agree to make no claims for compensation or any other kinds of claims to the organizer and co-sponsor in regard to the acts of the organizer and co-sponsor that are exempted from responsibility in Paragraph 1 of Article 6.
Article 10 Separability
- Even if part of this Agreement has been determined to be invalid or unenforceable, if it is deemed possible for this Agreement to continue, the remainder of this Agreement shall continue to be fully effective.
Article 11 Privacy
- The Developer, organizer and co-sponsor shall comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Law No. 57 of May 30, 2003 and the amended Personal Information Protection Law that amends this law and which will be fully enforced from October 1, 2022; hereinafter collectively the "Personal Information Protection Law").
- The Developer, organizer and co-sponsor shall establish an appropriate privacy policy to achieve the purpose of the preceding paragraph and shall operate this appropriately to prevent personal information from being misused, leaked or damaged.
Article 12 Surviving Terms
- Article 3, Article 4, Article 6, Article 7, and Articles 9 to 14 shall remain effective even after the termination of this Agreement.
Article 13 Governing Law and Language
- The establishment, effectiveness and performance of this Agreement shall be ruled and interpreted
according to Japanese law in full.
Article 14 Trial Jurisdiction
- If the need arises for litigation with respect to this Agreement, the Tokyo Summary Court or the Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance.
